Open Bearings vs Shielded Bearings vs Sealed Bearings: What Is the Difference?

Sealed bearings, usually marked as 2RS, have rubber seals on both sides. Compared with ZZ bearings, 2RS bearings provide better protection against dust, moisture, and external contamination. They are commonly used in outdoor equipment, garden tools, scooters, rollers, gear motors, automation equipment, and machinery working in dusty or humid environments. The trade-off is that 2RS bearings usually have slightly higher friction because the rubber seal gives stronger protection.
