How to Choose the Right Miniature Bearing for Small Electric Motors

Aug 30,2026 | Lumi Manufacturering Technology

Small electric motors are widely used in fans, drones, smart appliances, robotics, electric tools, medical devices, and precision instruments. Inside these compact motors, the bearing is a small component, but it has a direct impact on noise, vibration, speed, temperature rise, and service life. Choosing the right miniature bearing is therefore very important for both OEM engineers and purchasing managers.

The first factor to consider is size. Miniature bearings such as MR85ZZ, MR105ZZ, MR115ZZ, MR126ZZ, 685ZZ, 695ZZ, and 608ZZ are commonly used in small motor systems. The inner diameter, outer diameter, and width must match the motor shaft and housing accurately. Even a small mismatch can cause unstable rotation or early failure.

The second factor is shield or seal type. ZZ bearings use metal shields and are suitable for higher-speed motors, cooling fans, drone motors, and precision equipment because they offer lower friction. 2RS bearings use rubber seals and provide better dust and moisture protection, making them suitable for outdoor motors, small gear motors, garden tools, and dusty environments.

The third factor is noise and vibration level. For smart appliances, fans, medical devices, and robotics, low-noise performance is often more important than simply choosing the lowest price. Grease selection, internal clearance, raceway quality, and assembly consistency all affect the final motor performance.

Global demand for ball bearings remains strong. Fortune Business Insights reported that the global ball bearing market was valued at USD 7.26 billion in 2025 and is expected to reach USD 14.33 billion by 2034. The same source also notes that Asia Pacific held 45.50% of the market in 2025, supported by strong manufacturing and export capacity.

China plays a very important role in the global bearing supply chain. According to World Bank WITS data, China exported about USD 3.22 billion of ball bearings under HS code 848210 in 2024, with about 5.96 billion pieces shipped worldwide. This large export scale reflects China’s strong production capacity, wide model coverage, competitive cost, and mature bearing manufacturing technology.

At LUMI Bearing, we supply miniature bearings, micro bearings, small deep groove ball bearings, stainless steel bearings, and high-speed bearings for small electric motors. More importantly, we can provide professional selection advice based on your motor speed, load, working environment, noise requirement, and target cost. For global customers, LUMI Bearing can help you choose the right model more efficiently and support stable long-term sourcing from China.
